MMR uptake in England quadruples in 2024

The NHS in England has delivered four times as many measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines to 5 to 25 year olds in the first 12 weeks of 2024 (75 499) as it did in the same period in 2023 (18 433), the latest data show.1 When children under 5 are included, a total of 360 964 first and second doses of MMR have been given in England since the start of the year, up from 293 847 last year.The age group with the biggest increase was 12-25 year olds, with 31 059 getting MMR jabs this year, up from 6908 in the same period in 2023.The region with the biggest increase was the North West, considered an area at risk because of low vaccination rates, which delivered 14 462 doses between 1 January and 24 March, more than seven times the number given in the same period in 2023 (1916)….
