As we are nearly half-way into 2023, it may be a good time to take stock. If you are someone who made a goal related to your overall health or weight, how’s it going for you? For many people, sluggish results on the scale can leave people feeling underwhelmed and unimpressed with their own efforts, despite making several habit changes for the better. Instead of using the scale as the end-all, be-all determining factor of “success,” take some time to see how your results have fared in other areas (when the number on the scale is removed from the equation). If you have noticed improvements in any of these other areas, then you are making changes for the better:

Lab values—consider having your blood sugar and cholesterol levels checked and compare them to your pre-goal levels.

Energy levels—are you still noticing a mid-day slump? Or perhaps are your food and activity choices giving you the boost you’ve been craving?

Sleeping like a baby—with regular activity often comes improved sleep patterns.
