Doctors protest outside GMC offices to demand climate action

UK doctors staged a protest outside the General Medical Council offices in London on 18 April, demanding the regulator take action on climate change.The joint action by medical environmental groups and patients saw health workers “presenting complaints” about their struggles witnessing the impact of the climate emergency to a “moral injury unit.” As part of the theatrical protest people representing those in positions of power appeared not to understand the urgency of the crisis. A sister protest was carried out at the GMC offices in Edinburgh.The protestors have said that the GMC’s investment and pension fund does not currently exclude all oil and gas.
