GPs in England express dismay at “final” 2.23% contract offer

NHS England’s plan to impose a deal offering a 2.23% funding increase for GPs this year will leave many practices financially unviable, GP leaders have warned.In a letter to the profession on 28 February, NHS England’s national director for primary care, Amanda Doyle, set out what she described as the “final arrangements” for 2024-25.1 “NHS England will now begin the process of implementing the 2024-25 contract changes with detailed guidance and further information to be published in the coming weeks,” Doyle wrote.The BMA’s General Practitioners Committee, which has been pushing for an improved settlement,2 has not agreed to the terms.
