What happened in this case?On 12 June a 44 year old woman in the UK was given a 28 month sentence, including 12 months in prison, for using abortion pills after the legal time limit. The mother of three was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.She had received abortion medication by post through a covid-19 scheme that allowed at-home abortions up to 10 weeks after a remote consultation.
