What does a chief scientist do?I advise; I don’t make any decisions. We make suggestions—and these are often fairly short—and then the politician or the minister will decide. Sometimes they follow the advice, sometimes they don’t, because they also consider the economy and society. They are there to think about politics, and I’m not involved in that.How much do chief scientists from different countries talk to each other?Not many countries have [a chief scientist or medical officer].
