BMA suspends junior doctor over anti-Semitic comments

The BMA has suspended paediatric registrar Martin Whyte from its junior doctors committee while an investigation is ongoing, after past comments surfaced in which the doctor made anti-Semitic remarks.Whyte, who works in the north east of England, was deputy co-chair of the BMA’s junior doctors committee and deputy chair for the northern regional doctors committee.Following media coverage of his posts, in which he talked about “gassing Jews” and the holocaust being a hoax, Whyte’s social media accounts have been deactivated.A spokesperson for the BMA said, “These tweets are unacceptable and we condemn them in the strongest possible terms. The views expressed in no way reflect the values of the BMA. Dr Martin Whyte has been removed from taking part in any BMA business with immediate effect and the BMA will be undertaking an external independent investigation.”
