STAT+: Pharmalittle: FDA expected to authorize new Covid-19 boosters; Biden administration signs a deal to support monkeypox vaccine manufacturing

Good morning, everyone. I’m Allison DeAngelis, and I’m here to lead you through Tuesday’s news. I’ve just poured myself a cup of cold brew coffee, which I religiously make at home from Memorial Day through Labor Day. (It’s also always dark roast). But if the weather keeps up at this pace, I may have to extend my brewing further into September. 

The FDA is expected to authorize a pair of Covid-19 booster shots targeting what appear to be currently the most contagious strains of the virus as soon as Wednesday, Politico reports. Once the FDA signs off on the shots, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would still need to endorse their distribution to the public before shots can start going into arms. The CDC has scheduled meetings of its outside vaccine advisory panel for Thursday and Friday — sessions that are traditionally held before the agency gives its final verdict.
