STAT+: U.K. lawmakers want Boris Johnson to disclose emails with pharma about a WTO proposal on Covid-19 vaccines

Two dozen U.K. lawmakers called on the government to publish all communications with drug makers in order to assess whether industry lobbying influenced opposition to a proposal before the World Trade Organization designed to widen access to Covid-19 vaccines in low and middle-income countries.

Their move comes amid controversy over the proposal, which was introduced last fall and would temporarily waive trade agreement provisions governing patents, industrial designs, copyrights, and protection of undisclosed information, a reference to trade secrets. So far, the effort has support from 100 WTO members.
