STAT+: 3 freshman lawmakers for health wonks to watch 

WASHINGTON — Members of Congress have a habit of contorting their resumes to find a personal connection to each and every issue they campaign on: They’ll dress up in hunting gear to preach about the Second Amendment, grab a megaphone to look civically minded, or cite their one term in the state Senate to talk about their experience as a deal maker.

But the three freshman lawmakers below, who span the ideological spectrum from strident conservative to socialist, aren’t faking their understanding of the American health care system. They’re all likely to be outspoken voices for change come January.
