STAT Plus: U.S. Postal Service changes continue to slow down deliveries of mail-order prescriptions

When it comes to delivering prescription drugs to Americans, the U.S. Postal Service may as well be the Pony Express, at least judging by the delays that mail-order pharmacies reported to two lawmakers.

So far this year, the average delivery time in which the postal service delivered prescriptions increased by 18% to 32%, which means deliveries that would typically take two to three days instead took three to four days, according to a new report issued by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.).
