Brian John Sweetman

His father was Keith Franklin Drysdale Sweetman, a decorated surgeon and flying doctor working from the Wyndham base in Western Australia, who later became chief medical officer for Shell Oil. His mother, Amy Nelmore Molton Sweetman, was an artist specialising in sculpture and oil painting.Owing to his father’s profession, he travelled widely during his childhood. A large part of his early school years were spent in Borneo. In his later school years he boarded at Epsom College, UK. He trained at and qualified from St Thomas’ Hospital in London.Sweetman settled in Swansea, Wales, and worked as a consultant rheumatologist. He dedicated much of his working life to back pain research and gained a PhD on the topic of back pain in industry and an MD on the numerical classification of common low back pain, both from the University…
