Peter Ian Adnitt

bmj;383/oct10_14/p2311/FAF1faPeter Ian Adnitt was driven throughout his career by a belief that he was here to serve patients and in this he led by example. Appointed consultant physician with an interest in diabetes and endocrinology in Chester, he was an excellent postgraduate teacher with his junior posts and clinical teaching for the membership examination of the Royal College of Physicians being sought after by aspiring physicians. In his 40s he became a medical director in the pharmaceutical industry, where he remained until retirement. He was proud of his time as vice president of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine and his contribution to an advisory committee with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. Peter leaves a legacy in the Primary Care Dermatology Society, which he was pivotal in setting up.
