John Hanson Hall

John Hanson Hall was born in Stalybridge. His father went to war in 1939, and John did not see him for the next seven years. He was educated at Rydal Penrhos School in north Wales, where he was an outstanding sportsman. John went on to St Mary’s. He was a keen rugby and water polo player.He was appointed consultant general surgeon in Peterborough and Stamford. He held several other posts, including examiner in surgery at Leicester Medical School, lead clinician in general and day surgery, and latterly as adviser to a medical insurance provider. A senior nurse remarked that he was a force to be reckoned with.John’s first marriage broke down, and in 1982 he married Barbara.
