Cleophas Bharathan Benedict

bmj;382/aug25_6/p1940/FAF1faCleophas Barathan Benedict, or Cleo, as he was known to everyone, was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He came to the UK aged 7 years and lived with his family in Slough, where he did his initial schooling. Cleo graduated from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School in 1987. After initial jobs at Barts and in Brighton, he started a senior house officer job in south Wales in 1990, where he eventually settled and worked for the next 30 years. He ultimately took a staff grade role in the care of the elderly department and later became an associate specialist in the same department. Cleo was highly respected for his clinical acumen, dedication to his role, and empathy for his patients.
