The government’s “final offer” of a 6% pay increase for doctors and an extra £1250 consolidated payment for junior doctors in England for 2023-24 will not put an end to ongoing strike action, the BMA has warned.In an announcement on 13 July the prime minister, Rishi Sunak, said that the government had agreed to accept the recommendations made by the Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration (DDRB). “Having honoured the independent pay review process . . . I urge all union leaders to accept these pay offers and call off their strikes,” he said.1 “Today’s offer is final. There will be no more talks on pay. We will not negotiate again on this year’s settlements.
