I can see your halo
A girl presented with a longstanding naevus on the scalp that had recently become smaller and paler with white hair around it (fig 1). She had no history of alopecia areata and was well with no relevant personal or family history. Examination showed a 4×3 mm non-pigmented naevus, surrounded by white hair, on her left parietal scalp. The history, signs, and dermoscopic appearance were consistent with halo naevus. This lesion represents an autoimmune attack on a melanocytic naevus, sometimes associated with vitiligo. Halo naevi may be triggered by sunburn or trauma and typically occur in children or young adults.1bmj;381/jun22_1/e074998/F1F1f1Fig 1
