Change in US abortion law threatens training for obstetrician-gynaecologists
Nearly half the residents in US obstetrics and gynaecology training programs have problems learning essential skills because over half of the nation’s 50 states ban or severely limit abortion.1The situation follows a ruling in June by the US Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade, the decision that legalised abortion.2The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has long required obstetrics and gynaecology residency programmes to include abortion training.
