NHS trusts should provide everyone with a locker
I am pleased to see that two of the doctors interviewed by Torjesen have managed to get a locker, but Rohana Mir’s need to fill an imaginary locker captured how many hospital trainees feel.1Not only is it in doctors’ interests to have access to safe and secure storage, it is in organisations’ interests too. Much is made of staff welfare initiatives, but how often are trusts getting the simple things right? Reliable access to a secure locker enables storage of good food, hydration, and personal hygiene products. The impact reaches into the local community too; many trusts seem to promote active commuting but encouraging staff to cycle or walk to work can only go so far without providing facilities to enable this.With staff morale and welfare at a crisis point, isn’t this a simple win for trusts?
