Hands learn to teach in Jerusalem

Their teaching programme, endorsed by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, first ran in 2011 with the goal of training doctors to carry out core surgical skills.The two day programme has run 15 times since then, and in May it hit an important milestone when part of it was delivered by Palestinian doctors for the first time.Supported by the Juzoor Foundation, a health and social development programme based in the Palestinian Occupied Territories and Jerusalem, the course offers practical skills in training sessions on two sites—Hebron and Gaza—with a Zoom link-up.The programme was established by the Cornwall based surgeon Magdalena Ionescu after a holiday to the region in 2010.Ionescu,…
