bmj;384/jan17_10/q72/FAF1faPeter J Enoch was attracted to Littlewick Medical Centre, Ilkeston, by the community hospitals (general, children, and maternity). He was a partner from 1964 to 1998 and a locum until 2000.Born in Wednesfield in 1934, he gained a scholarship to Newcastle Medical School graduating in 1957. He then spent five years in the Royal Air Force, leaving as Squadron leader.Through work on the local medical committee he was elected to the BMA General Medical Services Committee in l970, as one of its six member negotiating team from l982 to l988 and as deputy chairman from l983 to l988. He was on the Department of Health’s Standing Medical Advisory Committee from l990 to l998 and was its chairman in l994-98. He received an OBE for services to general practice in 1998.Predeceased by their son, he leaves his wife, Priscilla, and two daughters.
