Long covidClinicians must get financial support, say unionsThe BMA and the Royal College of Nursing have asked the UK government to designate long term conditions caused by covid-19 as occupational diseases, so that staff with these conditions can receive financial assistance in recognition that they most likely caught the initial infection at work. They urged Mel Stride, secretary of state for work and pensions, to act on the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council’s paper, published last year, recommending that five specific conditions be added to a list of prescribed diseases for which industrial injuries disability benefit is payable.
