American women’s health “is in a perilous place,” study finds
Women in the US are dying from preventable causes and there are “stark racial differences” and great regional differences in maternal mortality and in deaths from breast and cervical cancers, says a report from the non-profit health foundation the Commonwealth Fund.1The report is the fund’s first study of health among reproductive age women (15-44) in the US. States in the north east reported the best health rates, and those in the south east had the worst.
