Shortness of breath after in vitro fertilisation

A woman in her 30s presented to the emergency department with a three day history of shortness of breath and right sided pleuritic chest pain. She was receiving in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment and had undergone embryo transfer one week earlier. She was previously well and had no relevant history.On examination her airway was patent. Auscultation of her chest showed reduced breath sounds up to the midzone on the right, with dullness to percussion, a respiratory rate of 22 breaths/min, and oxygen saturations of 95% on air. Her pulse rate was 109 beats/min with a blood pressure of 112/80 mm Hg. Her Glasgow coma scale score was 15/15.
