Anne Johnstone Fingland
bmj;385/jun14_3/q1308/FAF1faAfter graduating Anne undertook house jobs in Durham followed by GP training in the north of England and south of Scotland. Thereafter she worked happily as a part time GP in Galashiels for 28 years. Anne had a great passion for bridge, cricket, and music, playing the violin and oboe, and running the local chamber music society for 15 years. Her greatest enjoyment came, however, from bringing up her three children. Two years after a diagnosis of leukaemia, Anne underwent a bone marrow transplant. She bore her illness, the uncertainty, and the isolation uncomplainingly and with great positivity, saying, “I’ve been unlucky.” She is survived by her husband and three children, one a doctor.
