Former cardiovascular surgery lead is charged with 14 counts of sexual assault

The former head of the cardiovascular surgery department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital has been charged with sexually assaulting six female members of staff. Amal Bose, 54, has been bailed and is due to appear for an initial hearing at Lancaster Magistrates’ Court on 7 June.Lancashire Police were contacted by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in March last year. “Following a long investigation and after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, former consultant surgeon and head of cardiovascular surgery Amal Bose has now been charged,” said the trust in a statement.Lancashire Police confirmed that Bose had been charged with 14 counts of sexual assault relating to six female victims. “The alleged offending occurred between 2017 and 2022,” the police said in a statement. “Some of the counts encompass more than one incident.” The offences have been charged under section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, which makes it an offence…
