Anne Kathleen Rowlands

bmj;384/feb09_10/q334/FAF1faAnne Kathleen Lumb was born in Nuneaton to parents originally from Yorkshire. Her parents had two girls, Anne and Patricia. Both would become and also marry doctors. Anne graduated in medicine from Manchester University in 1960, where she met Derek Rowlands. They were married for 61 years. Anne worked in the paediatric department at Park Hospital, Davyhulme, before spending a period in general practice in Kenton, Middlesex. For the remainder of her working life she looked after children in community medicine in Manchester. This involved many years of working at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, and in clinics in Chorlton and Levenshulme. She retired in 1995.Anne and Derek had two boys, John and Tim. She was delighted when she became grandma of Emma and Sean.
