STAT+: ARCH Venture Partners is raising $3 billion for a life sciences fund
ARCH Venture Partners, one of the top investors in the biotech ecosystem, is raising $3 billion for a new fund.
The Chicago-based firm filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission this week for what would be its 13th namesake fund. Arch estimated it would raise around $3 billion — roughly the same amount it raised during its more recent fundraising in 2022.
ARCH was founded in Chicago more than 30 years ago and is still led by two of its co-founders: Bob Nelsen and Keith Crandell. In that time, the firm has invested in more than 600 companies, according to Pitchbook. It was also named as the best-performing VC firm in STAT’s 2023 report “Ranking biotech’s top venture capital firms.”
