Diagnostic artificial intelligenceMost doctors agree that taking a medical history is fundamental to accurate diagnosis and establishing a trusting relationship with patients. Most would also agree that taking a history is a skill that takes time and practice to master. However, it seems that AI systems can learn it too. Tested in a randomised, double blind crossover study using patient actors, the Articulate Medical Intelligence Explorer, a language based AI system optimised for diagnostic dialogue, performed at least as well as primary care physicians.
