World Health Organization leaders hope that the first ever health day at the 28th UN climate change conference of the parties (COP28) will ensure that the impact of climate change on health takes centre stage and be the engine that drives more urgent action by governments.The health day on 3 December will include a ministerial round table with 65 ministers of health expected to attend, the largest number at any COP summit.A COP28 climate and health declaration will be delivered by health ministers and governments gathered at the summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.1 This will call on world leaders to deliver on the Paris agreement and accelerate the phase out of fossil fuels; build climate resilient, low carbon health systems; and deliver on the promises of $100bn a year in climate finance and spend this on improving the health of the most vulnerable.“The voice of the health community will…
