The matters raised in this article are timely and important.1The need to streamline trainee education and work in the NHS is now more pressing than ever, given record waiting lists, low morale and retention, and ballooning costs.Multiple partnership programmes that NHS trusts have with overseas organisations are a good step as they benefit both the NHS and the home country of trainees, given that good standards and quality controls are maintained. When trainees working in the same workspace are paid differently, it leads to disenchantment and low retention rates and morale in the workforce.
