Normally made of bamboo and a melamine formaldehyde resin, these cups—and similar products—have been banned by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) over concerns that they might contaminate food and drink and could pose a health risk.1UnbeleafableThe FSA said that in some cases the presence of bamboo matter in plastic materials can result in the plastic components like formaldehyde or melamine seeping into the food or drink at a level above the legal limit.
