Anthony Gordon Gray

He started his anaesthetic training in Norwich after posts in Sheffield and Bristol, returning as a consultant anaesthetist in 1980. He was exceptional at his job and always went the extra mile for patients and colleagues. In Norwich he was college tutor, chairman of the anaesthetic division, and director of risk management. He was an Advanced Trauma Life Support course director and chaired the Norfolk paramedic steering committee. Alongside this, Anthony had a key national role in the early days of the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD), founded in the 1980s and at that point responsible for changing the face of how operating theatres worked in the UK.
