US drug companies will negotiate prices of 10 drugs while continuing to challenge the process

US pharmaceutical companies have agreed to negotiate the prices of 10 drugs with the federal government.1 All are, however, continuing to sue the government, claiming that the negotiations violate several constitutional rights.The drug industry sees price negotiations for patients on Medicare, the health insurance scheme for over 65s, as a foot in the door for further negotiations on drug prices, which are common elsewhere in the world.
