Criminal trial and lawsuit follow scandal of body parts stolen from Harvard Medical School

The manager of Harvard Medical School’s anatomical gifts programme is one of six people standing trial accused of trafficking in body parts stolen from Harvard and the medical school of the University of Arkansas.Harvard morgue manager Cedric Lodge is accused of selling heads, dissected faces, brains, bones, and skin, sometimes storing the parts at his home. He often sold through Facebook, the government alleges, and shipped items to customers by mail, beginning in 2018. On occasion, prosecutors say, he allowed preferred customers to enter the morgue and choose parts they wanted to buy. He and his wife, Denise Lodge, are charged with conspiracy and interstate transport of stolen goods, and could face up to 15 years in prison.Two of their principal alleged customers face the same charges.
