ChatGPT and other AI tools put students at risk of plagiarism allegations, MDU warns
Medical students should not “cut corners” by using artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT in their written work, the Medical Defence Union has said.The MDU has raised concerns about the number of medical students using content generated by AI systems, such as ChatGPT, in their coursework, resulting in plagiarism allegations from their universities. With sophisticated AI technology becoming increasingly accessible, the defence organisation emphasised the need for students to show that their work is “above suspicion.”MDU medicolegal adviser Ellie Mein said, “Our message to medical students is not to be tempted to cut corners to meet deadlines.
