bmj;381/apr28_6/p957/FAF1faMichael Harry Clark (“Mike”), general practitioner and complementary medicine practitioner in Southampton, died unexpectedly in his sleep on 2 March 2023, aged 78 years.Mike was born in 1944 in Manchester, the only child of Fred and Reenie. He attended William Hulme’s Grammar School on a scholarship, leaving to undertake officer training at Dartmouth Naval College. It was while at sea that seeing the work of the ship’s doctor inspired him to change career and become a doctor himself. He studied medicine at Birmingham, adding an intercalated degree in physiology before qualifying in 1970 with a distinction in psychiatry.
