Manchester mental health trust is told to make significant improvements

An NHS mental health trust in Manchester has been told that it must make significant improvements, after England’s healthcare regulator found that a deterioration in the trust’s leadership was having a detrimental effect on patient care.The Care Quality Commission (CQC) carried out unannounced inspections of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust in June after receiving reports of concerns about the safety and quality of care provided. The inspections focused on acute wards for adults of working age, as well as psychiatric intensive care units, forensic inpatient and secure wards, mental health crisis services, and health based places of safety.The CQC also carried out an announced inspection in July of how well led the trust was overall.
