Nitin Shripad Pradhan

bmj;379/nov18_7/o2758/FAF1faNitin Shripad Pradhan (“Nitin” to his colleagues and “Mr P” to many on the Isle of Wight) was born in Mumbai and studied medicine at Topiwala National Medical College at Mumbai (Bombay) University. After finishing his postgraduate training in general surgery, Nitin came to the UK in 1981 to broaden his horizons. He secured a senior house officer job in Dudley Road Hospital, where he met his future wife, Diane. Nitin completed his surgical rotation in Dartford, Gravesend, and at Joyce Green Hospital and then worked in neurosurgery in Leeds. During his time in Leeds, Nitin and Diane got married and later settled in the West Midlands. In 1984, Nitin joined the orthopaedic department at Good Hope Hospital to follow his career in orthopaedics.
