FDA, DOJ sue 6 vape shops for ignoring warnings about selling illegal products
WASHINGTON — The Biden administration is suing six vape shops after the companies ignored Food and Drug Administration warnings that some of their products are illegal, the agency announced in a joint press release with the Department of Justice Tuesday.
The move is a marked escalation in the agency’s enforcement approach against vaping companies, a large swath of which have ignored the agency’s efforts to enforce existing laws. STAT reported in August that vape companies by and large were ignoring FDA’s efforts to enforce a law that says the agency has to authorize every vaping product on the market – and that the FDA was not taking more serious action to force them to comply.
