A simple, cheap material for carbon capture, perhaps from tailpipes

Today, the dominant, though energy-intensive method for capturing carbon dioxide for storage involves bubbling industrial emissions through liquid amines. MOFs and other porous materials are promising and more energy efficient. Now, researchers have found an even cheaper and equally efficient material for capturing CO2: porous melamine networks. The main ingredient in Formica, melamine has lower regeneration costs than alternatives, and could be used to capture CO2 from vehicle exhaust.
