Low physical function after age 65 associated with future cardiovascular disease

Having lower physical function was associated with a higher risk of heart attack, stroke and heart failure among older adults assessed with a short physical function test. These associations between physical function and heart attack, stroke and heart failure were independent of traditional cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking or diabetes status.
